SAN MARCOS, Texas -- The Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP), in partnership with the City of San Marcos and Simonet Financial Group, will offer free training for business leaders on exit and succession planning.
The training, titled “Getting the Most out of your Business – A Guide to Exit and Succession Planning” will take place on Tuesday, August 23, at 10 a.m. at the San Marcos Public Library located at 625 E. Hopkins Street. The training is offered in a hybrid format with in-person and virtual sessions available.
The training will be led by Bill Simonet, CFP®, AIF®, CEPA®. Topics to be covered at the training will include business valuation, key employee retention, succession options, tax liabilities and more.
“Knowing how to successfully pass down a business is just as critical as it is to know how to start and grow a business,” said Maggie Gillespie, GSMP manager of business retention and expansion. “Roughly 50 percent of small business owners are looking to transition their company within the next two years, but only about 20 percent have actually developed a succession plan.”
The educational event, a part of the Small Business Series for Hays and Caldwell County businesses, is one of several upcoming seminars and trainings that are focused on the needs of local businesses. To register for the event and find out more about the series, visit GreaterSanMarcosTX.com/events.
