TEXAS INNOVATION CORRIDOR (July 1, 2021) -- The Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) is currently seeking nominations of local companies throughout the Texas Innovation Corridor (Hays and Caldwell Counties) to receive the 2021 Burdick Innovation Award at the annual Greater San Marcos Innovation Summit.
The award is presented to creative companies who have found innovative solutions to complex problems through unique methods, ideas, products, and processes. Previous award winners have included Visionary Fiber Technologies, Bautex Systems, Paratus Diagnostics, MicroPower Global, Quantum Mechanics, and Thermon.
“Now more than ever, our region is becoming a hot spot for commercial innovation, creativity and ingenuity,” said Jason Giulietti, president of the Greater San Marcos Partnership. “The Burdick Innovation Award recognizes and celebrates new ideas, processes and products, all while creating great-paying jobs.”
The Burdick Innovation Award was inspired by the late Dick Burdick whose unconventional creativity and out-of-the-box thinking led to the introduction of heat transfer cement. He would go on to found and serve as chairman of Thermon, Inc., which relocated to San Marcos, Texas, in the 1970s. Burdick, a long-standing business and community leader who passed away in 2018, was the first recipient of his namesake award at the inaugural Innovation Summit in 2013.
The seventh Annual Burdick Innovation Award will be presented at the 2021 Greater San Marcos Innovation Summit, which will take place on August 10, 2021, from 11:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the City of San Marcos Conference Center.
To nominate a business located in Hays or Caldwell County, visit GreaterSanMarcosTX.com/Burdick-Award and provide a brief statement describing the company's innovative solutions through a novel method, idea, product, or practice. The deadline for submissions is close of business Friday, July 23, 2021.
