The Greater San Marcos Partnership (GSMP) Board has selected Jason Giulietti as the organization’s new president. Giulietti will begin the new role immediately and lead GSMP in its mission to improve the quality of life for the residents of Hays and Caldwell counties by facilitating the creation of high-quality jobs.
Giulietti joined the GSMP approximately one year ago as vice president, leading the recruitment of growing companies for the region. During the last two months, he held the temporary position of interim president.
“It only takes a short time with Jason to recognize his enthusiasm for bettering the lives of others,” said John David Carson, COO for Carson Properties and GSMP’s acting board chair. “Jason has been recognized as one of the top economic developers in the country and he has already demonstrated the expertise to help us expand opportunities for our communities. His combination of skill, passion, and knowledge of our two-county footprint have helped him quickly develop meaningful, trust-based relationships throughout the region. We are fortunate to have Jason lead the GSMP.”
Giulietti replaces Adriana Cruz, who recently accepted the role of executive director of Economic Development and Tourism for the State of Texas in the Office of the Governor after almost seven years at GSMP.
Giulietti was selected after a three-month process that attracted applicants from across the country. The pool of candidates was eventually narrowed to two through a rigorous series of interviews culminating to a final two-hour interview by a quorum of the 37 member GSMP board.
Along with Carson, other GSMP search committee members were Texas State University Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Gene Bourgeois, Benchmark Insurance President Scott Burton, San Marcos Mayor Jane Hughson, Hays County Commissioner Debbie Ingalsbe, City of Lockhart Director of Economic Development Mike Kamerlander, San Marcos City Manager Bert Lumbreras, Corridor Title President Patrick Rose, Frost Bank Market President John Schawe, Hays County Commissioner Lon Shell, former Central Texas Medical Center President and CEO Anthony Stahl, and Caldwell County Commissioner Ed Theriot.
“Our region is on a trajectory of growth that is unprecedented,” said Jason Giulietti. “As president of the GSMP, I plan to help lead and guide this growth in a manner that aligns with our community’s values, assets, and aspirations. Building upon the collaborative partnership we have established across the region will allow us to secure more high-quality jobs and improve the quality of life for everyone in our community.”
Prior to joining the GSMP, Giulietti served as the Vice President of Business Recruitment at the Connecticut Economic Resource Center, Inc. where he led the state's business development team and recruitment initiatives. Jason has been selected as a 40 under Forty recipient for both Connecticut Magazine and the Hartford Business Journal. In 2018, Jason was nationally recognized by Consultant Connect as one of the top 50 economic developers in the country and was more recently recognized as one of the 40 under Forty by the International Economic Development Council in 2019.
